“Practical considerations of Blasting in open cast Mines. Improve Fragmentation and Reduce Vibration.”

A large measure of success is daily being achieved by applying to blasting problems empirical formulae which, experience has shown, can be used reliable guides at the commencement of an operation. The great variety of rock conditions encountered in the filed do of course influence the calculations and yet a suppressing amount of success is achieved by an understanding of the type of rock to be blasted and judicious application of proven formulae.

    Hard rock blasting
It is accepted that the many theories propounded have served to increase the knowledge and understanding of the machines of rock breaking by explosives and that in certain mechanics of rock breaking by explosives and that in certain cases this fundamental data has provided as useful guide to top management in the initial planning stage involving the selection of drilling, loading and crushing equipment for open pit operations.

    Controlled blasting
Cushion blasting and pre-splitting are two forms of controlled blasting most applicable to open-pit mining. Both techniques embrace a single line of holes drilled along the limit or contour line of the blast and require the use of relatively small decoupled charges capable of being initiated by detonating fuse.

The main difference between these two techniques is that with cushion blasting the holes are fired after the rest of the round has been blasted, whereas with pre-splitting the contor line of holes are fired in the solid ahead of the round proper. With both techniques, optimum results are obtained when the holes are fired simultaneously.

Role of IT in Mining Technology.

Mining is an art of cutting surface for extracting mineral. The role of IT is to provide the data which influence Mine Design and production Plannin. With the help of provided data we gather the information about the parameters which effects Geology, rock condition, survey etc. which help in better analytical way about production planning, mine designing for higher production achievement.
